Initially, he was a translator for Pastor Akindayomi, helping interpret sermons from Yoruba to English. However, his dedication and deep understanding of the Bible led him to be ordained as a pastor in 1975.

The RCCG Annual Convention and the Holy Ghost Congress, held every December, attract millions from different countries. The church also established the Redemption Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which has grown into a major religious center, featuring auditoriums that can hold millions of worshippers.

Pastor Adeboye has also focused on raising a new generation of leaders through programs like the School of Discipleship and RCCG Bible College. Many pastors trained under his leadership now lead RCCG branches worldwide.
